1. What information do we gather about you?
We collect two types of information about our users to better provide you with our numerous services: Personally Identifiable Information and Non-Personally Identifiable Information. Our primary goal in collecting information from you is to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience while using our site. Personally Identifiable Information: This refers to information that identifies you. When you register for a membership, order a product or service, submit content and/or post content in discussion forums or other public areas, enter a contest or sweepstakes, fill out a survey, or send us feedback on this site, we may ask you to provide certain information about yourself by filling out and submitting an online form. It is entirely optional for you to participate in these activities. However, suppose you choose to participate in these activities. In that case, we may request personal information from you, such as your first and last name, mailing address (including zip code), e-mail address, employer, job title and department, telephone and facsimile numbers, and other personally-identifying information. When ordering products or services from the site, you may be asked to enter your credit card information. Depending on the activity, some of the information we request is mandatory, while others are optional. If you do not provide the mandatory data for a specific activity, you will be unable to participate in that activity.
Non-Personally Identifiable Information: This is information that does not identify a specific person. We collect information about you in a variety of ways based on where you visit on our site. This data is compiled and analysed on a personal and aggregated level. This information may include the Uniform Resource Locator (“URL”) of the last Web site you visited, the next URL you visit, the browser you are using, and your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address. A URL is the global address of documents and other World Wide Web resources. An IP address is a unique identifier for a computer or device on a network that uses the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (“TCP/IP”), such as the World Wide Web. The TCP/IP protocol is used by networks such as the Internet to route information based on the destination’s IP address. In other words, an IP address is a number that is assigned to your computer automatically whenever you browse the web, allowing web servers to locate and identify your computer. IP addresses are required for computers in order for users to communicate on the Internet.
2. Where do we get your information and how do we use it?
We do not collect any Personally Identifiable Information about you unless you provide it to us voluntarily. You give us Personally Identifiable Information when you:
- sign up for our services and provide us with your e-mail address;
- participate in sweepstakes or contests hosted by us or one of our partners;
- register for special offers from carefully selected third parties;
- send e-mail messages, fill out forms, or send other information via phone or letter; or
- enter your credit card or other payment information when ordering and purchasing goods and services from our website.
We may also collect information from you at other points on our site that explicitly state that such data is being collected.
Furthermore, we or our third-party ad server and/or content server may collect certain Non-Personally Identifiable Information. This data is eventually stored as store categories and, in some cases, specific URLs. We use your IP address to diagnose server and software problems, administer our site, and collect demographic information. Our third-party ad servers will also provide us with summary reports, but not individual reports, indicating how many ads were displayed and clicked on at our site.
3. Who do we share your information with?
We do not share, sell, trade, or rent your Personally Identifiable Information with third parties. Some of our services are provided through contractual arrangements with affiliates, service providers, partners, and other third parties. Your Personally Identifiable Information is used by us and our service partners to operate our sites and provide their services. For example, in order to confirm payment for products and services purchased on this site, we must release your credit card information to the card-issuing bank; we must release your address information to the delivery service in order to deliver the products you ordered, and we must provide order information to third parties who assist us in providing customer service.
We will encourage our service providers to implement and publicize privacy policies. However, the use of your Personally Identifiable Information by our service partners is governed by their privacy policies and is beyond our control.
We may be required to provide Personally Identifiable Information to appropriate governmental authorities on occasion by law enforcement or judicial authorities. We will disclose Personally Identifiable Information in response to a court order, subpoena, or request from law enforcement. We work closely with law enforcement to identify those who use our services for illegal purposes. We reserve the right to report to law enforcement agencies any activities that we believe are illegal.
We may also provide Non-Personally Identifiable Information to third-party advertisers about our customers’ sales, traffic patterns, and related site information, but these statistics do not include any Personally Identifiable Information.
4. How do you change or update your Personally Identifiable Information?
We believe you should be able to access and modify the Personally Identifiable Information you have provided to us. You can change any of your Personally Identifiable Information in your account online at any time by following the instructions posted elsewhere on this site. Furthermore, if you indicated during registration that you would like to receive offers or information from us and our partners, we may send you direct mail about products and services that we believe may be of interest to you. Only Accurate Accounts & Taxes (or agents acting on their behalf and under confidentiality agreements) will send you these direct mailings, and only if you have indicated that you do not object to these offers. You can be confident that your Personally Identifiable Information is secure on our site, in accordance with current industry standards. We place a high value on the security of all Personally Identifiable Information associated with our users. Your Personally Identifiable Information is safeguarded in a variety of ways. You can access your Personally Identifiable Information by using a password and a unique customer ID that you create. This password has been encrypted. We advise you not to reveal your password to anyone. Furthermore, your Personally Identifiable Information is stored on a secure server to which only selected Accurate Accounts & taxes personnel and contractors have password access. We encrypt your Personally Identifiable Information to prevent unauthorized parties from viewing it when it is transmitted to us.
Non-personally identifiable information that you provide is also stored on a secure server and is only accessible by password. Because this information is not accessible from outside Accurate Accounts & Taxes, you will not be asked to choose a password to view or modify it.
Credit card transactions and order fulfillment are handled by established third-party banking, processing agents, and distribution institutions in order to best serve you. They receive the information required to verify and authorize your credit card or other payment methods, as well as process and ship your order.
Unfortunately, there is no way to guarantee that data transmitted over the Internet or any wireless network is completely secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your Personally Identifiable Information, you acknowledge that: (a) there are Internet security and privacy limitations beyond our control; (b) the security, integrity, and privacy of any and all information and data exchanged between you and us through this site cannot be guaranteed; and (c) any such information and data may be viewed or tampered with while in transit by a third party.
7. Do we employ "cookies"?
When you use our site, we will place cookies on your computer to help you navigate and customize your experience. A cookie is a small data text file that a Web site saves on your computer’s hard drive (if your Web browser allows it) and can later be retrieved to identify you to us. To welcome you back to our site, our cookies store randomly assigned user identification numbers, the country where you are located, and your first name. Cookies facilitate your use of the site, make it run more smoothly, and assist us in maintaining a secure site. We will not provide any of your Personally Identifiable Information or information about your purchases to any third-party ad server. Non-Personally Identifiable Information about you will be collected and used by us and our third-party ad server, such as your IP address, browser type, the server your computer is logged onto, the area code and zip code associated with your server, and whether you responded to a specific ad.
